I finally did it!! My new store, Eden is officially open! Thank you to all of you that have stopped by, complimented the store, wished me "good luck" and perhaps even bought something from me already. I hope that you will keep coming by and sending your friends my way, too. Word of mouth is key to a successful business!
I had my pre-opening party on Thurs. Dec. 18, just a few days before Christmas. It was a good turn out. I'm planning my "grand opening" party for sometime in Feb., so check back for the exact date. Or contact me and I will add you to my customer list so I can send you an invite. I'll also be joining the "1st Thursdays" Art Walk, so come by on Thurs., starting in Feb. I currently have local art from John Carlander, on my walls, as well as a few of Sean Kirkpatrick. I hope to be able to showcase other local artisan's work in the near future. If you are an artist, please stop by my store and see if your art would show well with my current decor.

I have a new container arriving by Jan. 15, so I'll have new items to showcase. All my furniture is unique and one of a kind, so once I sell an item, I replace with a different item. As I mentioned in my previous entry, Eden is an eco-friendly store. All the furniture is made from reclaimed tropical hardwood (mostly teak), and a few of the pieces are really old, antique pieces. No two items are alike (unless, of course, it was made as a set, such as chairs). I do have a few local vendors that I buy items, such as ceramics/vases, blown glass, and lighting, so I can re-order those items as needed. I also have a line of organic body products and soy candles (with reusable glass containers) and all packaging is made from recycled materials...even my gift bags are made from recycled paper. If you have any other suggestions for keeping my store "green", I'd like to hear from you.

That's all for now. I hope you can come by and see all that Eden has to offer, located at 17 W Ortega St. Our ph# is 805-966-3336 and email is juliane@edenhome-sb.com.

Happy New Year!

Juliane

Welcome to my blog. I created this blog to keep you updated on the opening of my new home decor store in Santa Barbara, called Eden, located at 17 W. Ortega (next to Wildcat Lounge). I hope to have it ready for a "grand opening" by mid Nov., so check back for an update on the exact date.

I currently own a store in Santa Barbara, called Paradise Import, with a business partner. We import teak furniture from Bali, Indonesia. Our inventory mainly consists of outdoor teak patio furniture. We've done pretty well, since we don't have much competition, especially since nobody in town can beat our low prices. We've been in business for 5 years.

I decided it was time (way overdue) to go out on my own and open my own store. Having a partner is difficult and not as profitable, so when I found a retail space for lease downtown (right off State St., the main part of town) I decided it was now time to dissolve my partnership and open my own store.

The concept of Eden is to provide eco-friendly, organic, unique products for your home, lifestyle & spirt. When you walk into Eden you will feel a warm welcome, not only by the store owner and staff, but by the decor & scents that will surround you. I will continue to import product from Bali, but it will only be unique, antique or recylced teak products, mirrors and lighting. I will incorporate local vendors and artists as well, such as jewelry, artwork, candles, incense, body lotions, pillows, throws, desk accessories, etc. It will be a well-rounded mix of items, so there will be something for everybody to create your own sacred space in your home and life.

Please keep checking back for further updates on my store. Hope to see you there!

Juliane Fausey
Eden
Santa Barbara, CA
